Makaua Placemat

Makaua Placemats are handmade by artisans in Mexico, using a technique that has been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years. By adding an element of modern design, they strive to create contemporary pieces that combine tradition and timeless simplicity.The word Makaua in the ancient Aztec language of Nahuatl has two meanings: from hand to hand or the act of giving a hand" - placing great importance on communities working together. Over 500 families have been part of this project which has allowed communities to earn a steady, dignified income and become a part of this beautiful story.
