Care

The little balls of fluff that appear on your knitwear overtime are referred to as pilling. Garments made of natural fibres like wool and cashmere can pill as easily as an acrylic fibre. That’s why pilling is not a sign of poor quality, it is the natural reaction and friction of synthetic or natural fibres rubbing during wear. Pilling will most commonly occur under the arms, across the front of garment where a seatbelt, hand bag , desk or jewellery may rub against the surface of the garment. Soft fluffy knits which are often our favourites, pill more frequently as the loose soft fibres will form balls much faster than a flat knit. Remember a piece of knitwear is not like a pair of jeans, the fibres are much more delicate.

Please Note: Some knits you cannot use a pilling comb or razor as they will damage the garment - always refer to the care and composition label before treating

To keep your knitwear in top condition you must treat pilling immediately and regularly by gently removing the small balls by hand if there are only a few. Brush lightly with a razor or use our pilling comb. The more you maintain your garment, the better it will look.

1. We always recommend handwashing your Humidity garments and using a gentle spin cycle after to get rid of excess water. Never wash your knits on a hand wash machine cycle – this is not handwashing.

2. Use a wool mix or a very gentle liquid detergent, We recommend using EcoStore's Wool & Delicates.
Handle garment with care, hand wash - do not rub. A short 1-2 minute soak should be enough. Pop on a gentle spin in the machine on a very short cycle to remove the excess water. Reshape and dry flat. Do not tumble dry.

3. Avoid hanging as this will distort the shape and length. Fold your knits to store.

4. Knits are prone to snagging, often due to loops being caught in jewellery or hardware. If this happens, do not pull the yarn as it will cause unravelling of the knit. Instead, gently pull the lose yarn back inside the garment and tie a knot.
